Abstract
We would like to invite you to our first Technology Enterprise Group (TEG) Seminar this term. Next Tuesday, 19th May 2009, 13:00 â 14:00 Valerie Bannert-Thurner will give a talk on “Entrepreneurship â Lessons learned from theory and practice”. In her talk, Valerie will share insights from both her research on Technology and Innovation Management and her professional experience in start-ups and large corporations.
Valerie is Managing Director of the start-up Skyler Technology Europe Ltd. Prior to opening the European office, Valerie was working in Skyler’s headquarters in Concord, California, where she was head of corporate and product marketing as well as strategic business development. Before joining Skyler, Valerie has gained her professional experience in strategic management in various industries. She was a member of the BMW Technology Office in Palo Alto managing a pre-development prototyping project and also led several strategic development and reorganization projects in companies such as TNT Logistics and Schindler AG. During her career, she worked in different countries all over the US, Europe and Asia. Valerie has also a distinguished academic background. She holds a Ph.D. in Technology and Innovation Management and a Master of Science in Industrial Management and Business Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich. She has taught entrepreneurship at the University of California Santa Barbara, and authored the book Mastering the Acquirer’s Innovation Dilemma, which was published by Palgrave Macmillan in fall 2005.
The seminar will take place in the Lecture Room at the Institute for Manufacturing (Mill Lane, Cambridge, CB2 1RX ). To be able to provide adequate space and seats it would be very helpful if you could RSVP to jjn28@cam.ac.uk before Sunday 17th May.
