Abstract
Morphogenetic cell movements shape tissue and deliver specialised cells to distant sites during development. Our lab undertakes interdisciplinary approaches to explore biophysical drivers of these processes in the mouse embryo. In the limb bud, we find a stiffness gradient is required for cell flows that remodel mesoderm. In contrast, a stochastic mechanism may underlie the ingression of cranial neural crest cells. A small set of biophysical rules may explain most morphogenetic events.
