'The Little Geologists': monsters, minerals, and Victorian children

Abstract
In this talk Melanie will analyse how children were encouraged to become ‘little geologists’ in the nineteenth century: whether picking up a pebble on the beach, peering down a microscope at tiny fossils, collecting specimens for a rocky cabinet, or marvelling at model monsters.
All are welcome, refreshments will be provided.
