Abstract

Cambridge Ukrainian Studies, a programme of the Department of Slavonic Studies at the University of Cambridge, is inviting interested graduate students and researchers at the beginning of their careers to participate in a special workshop in contemporary Ukrainian Studies.

Conducted by Professor George Grabowicz—Dmytro Chyzhevs’kyj Professor of Ukrainian Literature at Harvard University—the workshop is entitled ‘Ukrainian Literature and Europe: Asymmetries, Aporias, and Discourses’. It will explore various conceptualizations of Ukraine and Ukrainian literature within (and outside) the frame of ‘Europe’, offering workshop participants a provocative view into Ukraine’s position ‘between East and West’.

The workshop will take place on Friday, 14 October 2010 from 11am to 2pm in the Beves Room, King’s College, Cambridge.

For accepted workshop participants, coffee and lunch will be provided, and expenses for domestic economy train travel to and from Cambridge reimbursed. A certificate of participation is furnished to attendees at the conclusion of the event.
