The interacting Bose gas: A challenge for analysts

Abstract
I will review the mathematical setting for a many-body system of identical quantum “symmetric” particles . Such systems may undergo a Bose-Einstein condensation. The main questions deal with reconciling the microscopic description (Schrodinger operator) with the macroscopic one (Gross-Pitaevskii equation); to study the implications of the latter; and to understand the effects of interactions on the phase transition. I will survey the existing literature and describe some results obtained with R. Seiringer and V. Betz about the critical temperature of interacting systems.
