Abstract
The positions of the planets, ancient human writings, and bus queuing behaviour are all instances of evidence. (So are spotty tongues, hygrometer readouts, and fresh dung.) What unites them? Is it the relations each have to something else; to claims, perspectives, or theories? Is it how we use them? Can they really all be the same thing? The focus of our discussion will be on the enormous variety of things ordinarily classed as evidence, how to even begin thinking about the question of what evidence is, and what a general theory might hope to achieve.
