Abstract
I will start by giving an introduction to the idea of a twistor and its relationship to the geometry of null lines in four spacetime dimensions. The properties of twistors are then exploited to give a description of the classical bosonic string. There is also a supersymmetric version of twistor that enable us to develop a description of the Green-Schwarz superstring. The extension to six and possibly ten spacetime dimensions will be briefly examined.
