Abstract
6 years ago the founders of Apama took the event programming paradigm and decided to productise it in the shape of a composite event monitoring engine. But quite rapidly the challenge over the next few years then became â who needs this, who wants it, what real-world problems does it help a customer solve, how will it make them money and provide a quick return on investment? While we matured the core technology over time we learnt that in order to achieve commercial success most of our engineering effort was required on creating a focused packaged platform for specific verticals. Having now become the leading vendor of Algorithmic Trading solutions, Progress Apama is now focusing on providing a new suite of development tools that make the technology easier to engage with, and shifting its attention to new markets like Business Activity Monitoring.
This talk will describe the abstractions we are building on top of an event programming model in order to deliver competitive commercial platforms, with an emphasis on our recently revamped graphical development environment and dashboard technology.
Series This talk is part of the Computer Laboratory Opera Group Seminars series.
