Matt Clifford is co-founder and CEO of Entrepreneur First (EF), Europe’s leading pre-seed investment programme for founders of deep technology startups. Founded in 2011, EF pioneered a world-first investment model, which backs the world’s top technical talent at the earliest stage, often pre-company. EF has built an outstanding track record: its startups have raised over $60m of funding and are breaking ground in artificial intelligence, virtual reality and unmanned aerial vehicles, among other fields.

Before starting EF, Matt worked at McKinsey & Co. as a strategy consultant, where he advised public, private and social sector clients on a range of innovation and growth topics. Outside EF, he is co-founder and non-executive director of Code First Girls and non-executive director of Techfortrade, a charity dedicated to fostering technology innovation to alleviate poverty in the developing world. Matt studied at the University of Cambridge and at MIT , where he was a Kennedy Memorial Scholar.
