Abstract
A method introduced independently by Treumann and Venkatesh, and by the speaker, makes it possible to prove, for ‘modular forms mod p’ (in fact torsion cohomology classes), new cases of Langlands functoriality. I will explain how base change, in the form of ‘automorphic induction’ as defined in the book by Arthur and myself, can be extended to radicial (non-Galois) p-extensions. This applies to cohomology mod p.
