Solar flares are explosion in the solar atmosphere with energy 1029 -1032 erg, and sometimes cause troubles and disasters in our modern civilization. Recent observations by Kepler satellite revealed the occurrence of many superflares (with energy of 1033 -1035 erg) on solar type stars, including some Sun-like stars rotating as slow as the Sun. Statistical data analysis suggests that superflares with energy of 1034 erg occur once in 800 yr, and superflares with 1035 erg occur once in 5000 yr. We shall discuss whether superflares with energy more than 1033 erg can occur on the Sun, and discuss what will happen on the Earth if such superflares occur on the Sun.
