Structural engineers work collaboratively with a professional design team to deliver the vision of clients and architects. Many challenges arise along the process of project delivery, varying from concept to design to site-related. In this talk, specific design challenges will be discussed related to several projects, including long-span timber floor systems, folded plate timber roofs and an upside down car art installation. The importance of carrying out research to inform the design philosophy will also be addressed.
