Abstract
Please Join us for a talk by Dr Lorna Williamson OBE . Dr Lorna Williamson OBE
_In this talk, I aim to cover some topics which link together and reflect my past and current experiences: I will debunk some myths about the work of pathologists, and show how we fit into the team which cares for patients. To illustrate the scope of pathologists’ activities, I will describe (and hopefully introduce) a young woman who has had lung transplantation for cystic fibrosis. This will lead into a review of some of the current issues in organ donation/transplantation, including ‘opt-out’ consent, hopefully leaving the audience with much to discuss over dinner. I will end by describing the ways in which pathologists are taking their subject to the public, and invite the scientists in the room to do the same._
