Abstract
DNA is an ideal nanoscale building material: programmed base pairing facilitates self-assembly of DNA strands into complex 3D structures. The DNA sequence allows for control of their geometry and positioning of chemical modifications with angstrom precision. This has opened new avenues in X-ray crystallography, drug delivery, and mimicking the function of natural enzymes and proteins, paving the way to patient-specific therapeutics.
âĸ Dr Ryan Brady and Dr Alexander Ohmann will introduce the field of DNA nanotechnology, describe the approaches to produce functional nanoscale devices from DNA and present results on creating DNA -built mimics of ion channel proteins and lipid-flipping enzymes.
